    2:00pm Panel discussion with Seymour Bernstein, a virtuoso pianist, veteran New Yorker and true original who gave up a successful concert career to teach music along with his student Michael Kimmelman, NY Times art and architecture critic:  Life’s Pursuit: Work, meaning, and Connection. Free and open to the public!

    3:00pm Master Piano Class taught by Seymour Bernstein to students from SJC and New Mexico School for the Arts

Cool Summer Drinks

Clementine and Red Wine Spritzers
Serves 4
1 bottle red wine (anything light to medium boxy, unoaked, not super sweet) (think dry Lambrusco (yay, it’s sparkling!!), Granche, Frappatto, Gamay)
2 bottled clementine soda
ice and strawsFill each glass with ice.  Fill each glass a third of the way full with clementine soda.  Top with wine and serve immediately!

Mint, Cucumber and Lime Crush
Serves 4
Juice of 3 limes
1 cup simple syrup
3/4 cup white rum
2 lime, thinly sliced
1/3 cucumber, thinly sliced
fresh mint leafs
ice
club soda
In a large pitcher or jar mix lime juice, simple syrup, rum, lime, cucumber, mint and ice.
Stir and serve in glasses topped off with club soda.

Blackberry and Meyer Lemon Gin and Tonics
Serves 4
Ingredients:
12 blackberries
20 fresh mint leaves
2 Meyer lemons (can sub. regular lemons)
1/4 cup simple syrup
12 ounces good quality gin
tonic water
ice
Set out four high ball glasses. Place 3 blackberries, 5 mint leaves, juice of ½ lemon, and 1 tablespoon simple syrup in each glass and muddle together. Fill each glass with ice, followed by 3 ounces of gin. Top off each drink with tonic water, stir and serve.

  • United We Run—5/1 K Run/Walk Outreach Benefit
    Sunday, May 1 at 12:30 pm. United Church of Santa Fe hosts a 5k run/walk (1k for children) to raise funds for three organizations in Santa Fe (New Mexico Environmental Law Center, Nuestra Jornada of Gerard’s House, and Santa Fe Dreamers Project). The 5k run/walk begins after the 11:00 service and goes in a circle from the church (all on sidewalks, side roads and trails). An all-church cookout follows. All are welcome! $20 per person entry fee.

  • Annual fundraiser for Amma’s Ashram (amma.org).  The local Santa Fe ashram uses funds raised to support programs to feed the hungry, including a weekly “burrito project”, as well as material support for disadvantaged school children.
