  • News from 100 Women Who Care: At our most recent meeting we drew 3 names out of the hat and heard wonderful presentations from:

  • Nordic Voices – A six-voice a cappella group, making waves not only in Scandinavia, but in places as far afield as South Africa, Taiwan & Bolivia are here in Santa Fe. St. John’s College, 1160 Camino Cruz Blanca, $20, Fri, Feb 8 at 7:30pm
  • Love Your River Day – Join the Santa Fe Watershed Association‘s River Stewards to pick up litter from the river and arroyos. Meet at the barn. Bring some work gloves—everything else is provided. Each participant will be entered into a drawing with the possibility of winning a great prize donated by Outside Magazine, Watershed Association and other local businesses.   • BE A HONEY & LEARN THE BUZZ ON BEES – Register now for Oct 20 Workshop. Be an apiarist for the day by learning about some of New Mexico’s 500 species of bees, including HONEY BEES! You will learn about bee artistry by studying their honeycomb, how they live their lives and how we need them in our environment. This one day class will fill you in on everything “bees” from plants to pollination, hives, gardens and how to increase their populations and attract them to your garden. – Lunch will be a creative mix of bee reliant fruits and vegetables along with a full meal and tasting, selecting and pairing various local honeys. Takeaways: Using a combination of materials, you will assemble your own native bee house and make a pair of hand dipped beeswax candles. $100 per person.   • Need Volunteers for the Mayor’s BallThe Mayor’s Ball  is an annual gala created to bring awareness to and raise funds for chosen nonprofit organizations. On Saturday, October 21st at the Santa Fe Convention Center, Communities in Schools NM and The Food Depot will be recognized for their great work and we need volunteers to make the sold out, 650-guest event simply magnificent. By volunteering at the event (or with setup or breakdown the day before and after), you’ll be supporting these nonprofits and the children and families they serve.
