This local tradition features stage performances and activities reminiscent of the festivals of Japan. Visit many specialty vendors and taste festival street food and bento for sale. Admission is $5 for adults, and free for children under 12.

It’s a Team Fox event to benefit The Michael J Fox Foundation for Parkinson’s Research, for which 100 percent of proceeds go directly to research projects.

  • Mark you calendars for the next 100 Women Who Care Meeting, Wed. May 2 at 6 pm at the Scottish Rite Temple
  • Miyuki Matthews, a senior at Santa Fe Prep, is organizing a golf tournament called Nine & Dine for Parkinson’s.  Miyuki has a family member with Parkinson’s.  She wanted to do something special for the Parkinson’s community in Santa Fe and took this on for her senior project. The event is Saturday, May 5th at the SF Country Club.  Registration starts at 2pm and the Shotgun Start is at 3pm.
    You can go to NMParkinson.org to register, donate or be a sponsor for this event.

  • 100 Women Who Care in Santa Fe  Here’s an update on donations collected from our Feb. 7th meeting: $10,416 for SFPS Adelante, $5,225 for Reading Quest & $600 for S.E.E.D.S makes a grand total of $16,241 for three great non-profits in Santa Fe! Thank you members for being a part of this wonderful group! We together are truly making a difference in Santa Fe.
  • 100 Kids Who Care in Santa Fe is looking student liaisons at each of the high schools in Santa Fe to help build the group by announcing the meetings, putting up flyers and encouraging fellow students to attend. There are only 2 meetings left for this school year: Sat. Mar. 31 and Sat. Apr. 21. If you know of a student who would be interested in being a part of the founding board and representing their school, please contact Coco Randolph. FYI  For the meetings kids bring $5 to $20 ($5 = 1 vote) and support local non-profits. Together kids can make a difference too!
  • Community Day at Meow Wolf – Get reduced-price admission to the House of Eternal Return and a day of special programming, Sun. Mar. 11, 10 am – 8 pm
  • Volunteer Orientation at the New Mexico Center for Therapeutic Riding. Those with interests in horse care and handling, rider assistance, barn maintenance, photography or just clerical work are invited to an info and orientation session. No horse knowledge is necessary, and training is provided. SoupThe 24th annual Souper Bowl, a benefit event for The Food Depot, Northern New Mexico’s food bank, goes down in all its liquid-food glory. Your vote decides which of our community’s finest restaurants has the best soups in Santa Fe. Thirty local restaurants will compete in one the following categories – Best Cream Soup, Best Savory Soup, Best Seafood Soup, Best Vegetarian Soup – with all restaurants competing for the Best Soup. It’s soup. Soup!

If you get sick of soup, you can also get desserts, snacks, Starbucks coffee, and have the opportunity purchase cookbooks from area chefs. All proceeds from the event go directly to feeding Northern New Mexicans in need. Sat, Jan. 27 from 12:00pm – 2:30pm $30 Santa Fe Community Convention Center, 201 W Marcy St.

  • Film & Speaker: A screening of Merci Congo, about the conflict minerals trade in East Congo and the amazing activists who are working to change the situation there. Neema Namadamu, one of the activists featured in the film, will speak about her work empowering women in the region and changing the paradigm there through grassroots organizing. This event is free and open to the public. Cool Pick of the Week

Farolito Walk
One of Santa Fe’s most beloved holiday traditions, the Canyon Road Farolito Walk – 5pm on Christmas Eve.

Small, sand-filled, paper bags illuminated with votive candles line the historic neighborhood streets and adobe walls. Carolers gather around the farolitos (Spanish for paper lantern; diminutive of farol,lantern; from faro, lighthouse, lantern; from Latin pharus, from Pharus, Pharos) and sing for joy as they warm themselves, and our hearts, from the cold night.

He did my brakes & an oil change for half the price of the other mechanic I had been using & he picked up & dropped off my car for me. I was very impressed & want to spread the word.   • CASA First Volunteer training begins on Jan. 17.  Make a difference in a foster child’s life by becoming an advocate as the child navigates through the court system.  Learn more at  www.CASAfirst.org
