  • Journeysantafe: Meet with County Commissioner Anna Hansen and learn about current initiatives, ranging from the construction of a new administration building, sustainability projects, improvements and changes to the DCI code for hard rock mining, and much more.   • WISC Fellow-in-Residence Dr. Jennifer Denetdale of UNM’s Feminist Research Institute presents “The Photographs of Milton Snow and the Making of the Modern Navajo Nation, 1937-1959″.   • Mark Your Calendars for the upcoming Women to Women Luncheons: Wed. June 19, noon at Cowgirl, $25 at the door with Connie Knudson, Feng Shui Specialist & Author of the best-selling book The Feng Shui of Personal Transformation (RSVP here) AND Wed. July 10 at noon, location TBD, with Valerie Plame, former career covert CIA operations officer, international speaker, author & advocate for the elimination of nuclear weapons.   • Saturday Writers’ Sanctuary with Joanne Fay Brown
    Jumpstart your writing, Juice up your creativity in the company of other writers Sat, June 29, 10 a.m. – 3:30 p.m.
    We begin at 10:00 am with timed writing exercisesOur work is based on the internationally acclaimed Amherst Writers & Artists method.  After lunch you’ll spend the afternoon in silent communion with other writers, working on whatever project is preoccupying you as a writer these days. Joanne will have prompts ready if you feel stuck. You are also welcome to walk in the peaceful arroyo just behind her house. Writing ends at 3:30 pm but you can stay a while, share some of what you’ve been working on, discuss issues of craft, etc. The day is completed by 4:30. p.m. All are welcome! Space is limited — reserve yours! COST: $99.   • Explore Los Luceros – At a daylong symposium that concludes with a Pueblo dinner. There is so much happening right now in the world of immigration whether here locally, in our nation’s detention centers, or on our border with Mexico. They want to tell you about their new asylum workshop, about reuniting separated families, about our DACA clinics, about rural U-visa programs, about getting trans chicas released from prison, and so much more! This is a great opportunity to come learn how they are serving clients and fighting for justice right here in Santa Fe. Santa Fe: Walk with Our Elders -The Santa Fe Walking Collaborative, convened by the Santa Fe Conservation Trust, wants to help Santa Feans walk more; and what better motivation to walk than when you can talk to someone interesting while you do it? Workshops include: Evacuation Preparation, How to be alerted about wildfire in Santa Fe How to create a “Go Kit” , How to prepare your family and home to evacuate, How to prepare your home for wildfire.   • Audubon Day: A Celebration of Birds – The Center for New Mexico Archaeology, an affiliate of the Museum of Indian Arts and Culture, teams up with Audubon New Mexico for a family-friendly event with live demonstrations as well as hands-on activities; make clay figures, view bird-related objects under a microscope, create balls out of bird seed and learn the basics of birding skills.  The Center for New Mexico Archaeology Sat, May 4 from 10am – 2pm, 7 Old Cochiti Road
  • Volunteers Needed – Healing Voices/Personal Stories, a local non-profit working to raise public awareness of women striving to overcome abuse through the creation and distribution of film and video, needs volunteers for video demonstration “die in” as a part of National Day of Action Against Domestic Violence.   • Mother’s Day Celebration at the Santa Fe Woman’s Club – The Santa Fe Woman’s Club is having their annual MOTHER’S DAY GIFT FAIR. It will be held on Sun, May 5 from 10am – 4pm at their Clubhouse located 1616 Old Pecos Trail. The proceeds will go to the many charities and college scholarships funded yearly by the Santa Fe Woman’s Club and Library Association. Last year it was a great success, and we expect it will be even better this year.
  • United We Run The church hosts a 5K run/walk (and a 1K fun run for kids, too) to raise funds for three Santa Fe organizations: New Mexico Environmental Law Center, Santa Fe Dreamers Project and BOOKKIDS (to supply books for students in Santa Fe Public Schools). Runners/walkers are invited to collect donations from friends and family. Registration and donation forms are available online at unitedchurchofsantafe.org, in its community room, via email (unitedchurchsf@gmail.com), or call 988-3295.
