Cool Pick of the Week: Shop Local Saturday, Nov. 26. I love to shop locally and if you do too, here are three books from local Santa Fe authors you may be interested in buying.
A young adult novel by Santa Fe author, Janie Chodosh. Death Spiral, published by The Poisoned Pencil, is an edgy tale introducing sixteen year old Faith Flores in Book 1 of a science mystery series. A finalist for the 2016 Eric Hoffner Award, “Death Spiral is a wild ride from start to finish…” says Berger’s Book Reviews. And from Publisher’s Weekly, “Sharp characterization and deft descriptions make this a solid addition to the amateur detective shelf.” Ages 12–up. Click Here if you’re interested in buying a signed copy from Janie.
In this humorous story for ages 3-7, Hector the Pig
discovers the rewards of a positive attitude. Hector loves living on the farm but when summer ends, it is time to go. Cheery Hector, however, isn’t worried. A plan is hatched and he heads to the circus, amazing one and all with his juggling act on perfect tiptoes. Beginning readers learn that a good attitude, even when obstacles arise, is always the best plan. Slim, 8 x 8 size and BONUS coloring pages for easy travel and a Fun Way to Learn Spanish in this dual Spanish/English version. Also available in dual language: English/French, and English/Chinese. Written and illustrated by mother/daughter duo Geraldine MacLean and local Santa Fean Nadine Donovan. Click Here to buy a signed copy from Nadine.
The Last Gifts: Creative Ways to Be with the Dying published by Andrews McMeel Publishing is an award-winning book written by Santa Fe author and former occupational therapist Jillian Brasch. “Exquisitely written, The Last Gifts: Creative Ways to Be with the Dying is a heart-opening guide not just for healthcare professionals but family members and friends of a person who is ill, disabled, or dying” –Gail Donohue Storey, author.
